Another Colorful Quilt for a Colorful Girl (and Her Cows)
Deciding that I was tired of waiting for Sophie to clean her room for the most perfect photo shoot ever, I decided that we could live with some closely-cropped shots of bed with quilt!
You've seen it before, first when I had it all up on the wall here, and then here when I was basting it. Now that it is finished, and now each of my kids has a (at least one) quilt, I feel like I can relax. Momentarily, until they start bugging me for another.
In case you haven't noticed, I just can't get enough of Kaffe Fassett florals. And this simple patchwork is so perfect for showcasing those big splashy florals. I cut 8.5" squares so I could get the maximum number of squares from a half yard--which is what I had in most of these prints since they came from my stash. I am really happy with the way this one (and her sister's) turned out.
Since the bed was made so nicely, apparently it was an opportune time to organize her collection of Cows. My girl loves cows. All she wanted for Christmas this year was a "bucket full of cows." She has an excellent collection.
Since I was still holding the camera, she presented her cows, one by one, pointing to each and telling me its name, then stopping, smiling, and posing for a photo with each one. Whew! I think the photo shoot took almost as long as the quilt-making!
But so worth it! Such a crazy, happy girl! She loves her new quilt and man, she loves her COWS!

Addendum #1: I'm about to skip town with my mom and sister for the big quilt show in Paducah. I am super excited to check out all the fabric and quilts and hang with my Peeps. After a long winter and rainy cold spring, I'm ready for a little warm weather down south and to hang with all those rowdy quilters.
